The Book of Hebrews

There are questions that do not have answers, in the Christian faith. Since we do not know the answers, all that we can depend upon is our faith in God.

Many Questions

In studying Hebrews, you will find yourself asking many questions that do not appear to have answers or at least, easy answers. Believers understand that Jesus is God, but to those who are young in the faith, this can be hard to understand. Hebrews attempts to do a good "sell job" to the Jews, to whom it was written. We do not know who wrote Hebrews, but we are sure that he was a very devout follower of Jesus. To improve our lot in life, we must decide who to follow. We cannot go through life without direction. To do so, we would become like a rudderless ship tossed about by the restless waves, not having any control over our destination.

In Hebrews 10:32-36, we are told to never fall away from what we believe. When society pressures us to behave in a manner that does not bring glory to God, we must resist. We must demonstrate that we are well-grounded in faith and not willing to let circumstances dictate our response to any given situation. When an action that we might take is wrong, it will always be wrong, regardless of the circumstances. A lie will always be a lie, even if the dress does cause your wife to look plump.

Explorer Your Life

Hebrews is an excellent place to start an exploration of life as it relates to the world of today. The first step one takes is often the most important, and that is why the book is so important. Hebrews was meant to convince people to explore the possibilities that God has to offer all. The world presents many challenges to us today. There are times that we might be asked to compromise our beliefs and values in order to make a sale or to influence other options in life. To remain true to ourselves, we cannot allow these challenges to bear fruit.

As a Christian, we will always be known and remembered for the way we treat people, especially those of little circumstance. Our word needs to be our bond when we do business with the buying public. When it is time to pay our taxes, we must pay all that we owe and not invent a reason for us to be untruthful with our government. The speed limit is the same for all and we should not try to influence the officer into being generous with us. The incorrect change given to us at the store must be returned to the store and not put in our pocket.

God's Only Hands

We are the only hands that God has in this world. We need to respond to God when He moves in our lives and be attuned to opportunities that might present themselves. We are the only Bible that some people will ever read. How do we respond to situations that confront us, daily, asking us to be good Christians? It is time for us to get back into Hebrews and learn about God's people.
